Sequels duked it out at the holiday box office, with a fourth “Mission: Impossible” triumphing over a second “Sherlock Holmes” to walk away with the (estimated) box office crown.

Monitoring figures for the Friday-Sunday frame, Brad Bird’s thrilling “Ghost Protocol” earned an estimated $26.5 million, putting it ahead of Guy Ritchie’s second “Holmes,” which grabbed $17.8M in its second stint. That marked a 55% drop in attendance for “Game of Shadows.” To date, the explosive sequel has pocketed $76.5M. Could a third “Sherlock Holmes” happen if these figures persist?

Elsewhere, as Oscar contenders entered the marketplace, David Fincher’s bleak “The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo” earned $21.4 million since opening late last Tuesday. And Steven Spielberg’s newcomer, “The Adventures of Tintin,” posted a $17.1 million figure since opening on Dec. 21. (The Oscar-winning director also opened “War Horse” on Christmas Day, and we’ll track that film’s progress all week.)

Fox can’t be thrilled with “We Bought a Zoo,” which earned an estimated $7.8 million, for a sixth-place finish on the weekend. It leads us to question if the two paid sneaks that took place weeks ago bit into Cameron Crowe’s potential box office.

And the studio’s third “Alvin and the Chipmunks” isn’t meeting the financial levels of its predecessors. Each passed the $200 million mark, while “Chipwrecked” sits at $50.2M after two weekends.

How did Kim take the confrontation? Not well. She reportedly denied any issues and just labeled herself a 'social drinker.'

Kym Marsh admits her pregnancy has been 'a nightmare', with the constant worry she and fiancé Jamie Lomas will lose a second child.

Coronation Street actress Kym and Jamie's premature son Archie died in 2009, moments after he was born at 21 weeks.

Now 26 weeks pregnant with a baby girl, the couple have been 'on eggshells'.

'We were [so scared we'd lose our baby],' says Kym, 34.

'It's been really difficult.

'I have been diagnosed with an incompetent cervix, which is when your cervix is too weak to stay closed during pregnancy due to the extra weight of the baby.

'It can cause premature birth or late miscarriage.

'This time around I was a high risk patient and I've been monitored closely.'

Kym was 'stitched' at 17 weeks to stop the cervix from opening and took early maternity leave from Coronation Street, a decision she's sure saved her unborn child.

'She's been a right little wriggler since 17 weeks,' says Kym, whose little girl is due in May.

'And she's a Marsh-Lomas.

'I know she's a little fighter and I know she'll be causing us havoc before long!'

Just weeks before her anticipated album "Still Standing" arrives in stores, Monica and fiance, rapper Rocko have decided to call it quits.

Confirming the end of their lengthy relationship, Monica told fans "even separated we will always be family," Thursday, March 11.

While the "Everything To Me" and BET reality star did not confirm just what might be behind the split, sources say the "I'mma Do Me" rapper had been unfaithful in their relationship.

Nonetheless, Monica is taking the situation as a learning experience.

Thanking fans on Twitter for their support, she wrote the following Thursday.

The news that an unidentified woman was taken this morning from Tiger Woods' Isleworth home was major news on NBC's "Today" and ABC's "Good Morning America."

There was footage of a woman, described as middle-aged, on a stretcher, but the programs couldn't identify her. Both drew on local reporting. "Today" reliedon WESH-Channel 2's Jeff Lennox. "Good Morning America" turned to WFTV-Channel 9's Steve Barrett.

Woods continued to be big news in New York tabloids. The Daily News had as its main front-page headline "Home Swede Home." The story? "Tiger's humiliated wife buys Swedish mansion; rumors swirl she's gone."

But TV reports this morning said Elin Woods was spotted driving a vehicle since the ambulance visited her home and transported the unidentified female.

The New York Post headlined on its front page "Tiger's Wife Turns Tail" and added that she had left her Florida mansion.

The lead to the Post story: "She's really teed off now!"

The Post reported that Woods had cheated with at least 10 other women. The Daily News put the count at seven, including porn star Holly Sampson.

The Daily News also published a cartoon of sports heroes as statues: Joe DiMaggio was saluted for his 56-game hitting streak. Emmitt Smith was honored for 18,355 yards. And Wilt Chamberlain had fallen off his pedestal for saying he had sex with 20,000 women.The Chamberlain statue says, "Damn you, Tiger Woods!"

"Today" even opened with footage of the unidentified woman on a stretcher although Matt Lauer and Al Roker had traveled to Afghanistan to report on the war's buildup.

After working for years writing, producing and developing major label aritsts, Rocko realized no one was going to take his advice as well as himself. Proving he knew exactly what the rap game needed, just a year after becoming an artist himself, Rocko secured a deal with Def Jam Records. Thanks to the overwhelming popularity of his Drumma Boi produced single, “Umma Do Me,” Rocko is now at the forefront of the new Southern movement in hip-hop where business acumen and consumer awareness reign supreme.

Raised with his two sisters in Atlanta, Rocko learned at a young age how to improve upon the not so perfect conditions around him. “I was back and forth between my mother and my grandmother for the majority of my life,” says the rapper born Rodney Hill. “My father wasn’t in the picture so I had to learn from a lot of older people. I saw a lot of things growing up and I decided that I didn’t want to become a statistic. So I stayed focused.”

After graduating from high school, Rocko started working for his cousin who owned and operated multiple businesses in and around Atlanta.

“I was doing all types of things,” says the Georgia MC today. “I was selling T-shirts, working at my cousin’s transportation company. I was just trying to figure out what it was that I wanted to do. I knew I wanted to do entrepreneurial things, but I was still trying to find myself. Then I found music.”

In 2002, Rocko started Rocky Road, a development company that allowed him to play a role in every aspect of budding artists’ growth. “I was infatuated with the way people produced music form scratch, how you go in and make something out of nothing,” says Rocko. “I kinda like feel in love with that whole idea. I wanted to learn how to write and format songs and make beats.” Hitman Sammy Sam was one of Rocko’s first clients, and together the two released “Step Daddy.” The novelty dance song’s popularity lead to Sammy Sam getting signed to Universal and releasing his debut in ’02 which included the Rocky Road logo on the album’s packaging.

Rocko worked with Young Dro next, a middle school friend who would go on to sign with T.I.’s Atlantic Records distributed label Grand Huslte. In the years that followed, Rocko’s production company tracked songs for Dem Franchize Boyz, Lil’ Flip and Pastor Troy, and while the vision for his company had been fulfilled, Rocko still wanted more.

In early 2006, Rocko decided it was time to become the artist he had always hoped to develop. “I knew I had the swagger to pull it off,” he says. “I was seeing all these guys who were not really who they said they were and getting away with it so I was like, ‘Ok, if it’s that easy, lemme do me.’”

Rocko immediately reached out to all the key people who he had built relationships with throughout his years in the music business. He recorded songs with Rick Ross, and Jim Jones and occasionally leaked a song or two to test his product. “Once I realized that people were feeling me I just went out and hit the streets real hard,” says the resourceful MC who recorded his hit “Umma Do Me” in August of ‘06. “I just started emailing the record out and going through different markets and promoting. We would be passing out CDs and posters and going out partying and making sure they played my song. The buzz just started to grow and before I knew it ‘Umma Do Me’ was at like 300 spins.”

In October, Shakir Stewart, the senior vice president of A&R at Def Jam, contacted Rocko and persuaded him to fly to New York City to meet with the head of the famed label. “At that time I was in the process of closing a deal somewhere else but Shakir was like, ‘Roc, you gotta come up here, LA Reid wants to meet with you,’” he remembers. “My first time meeting with Def Jam we closed the deal the same day. There were no negotiations. They had their mind made up. I couldn’t even leave the building.”

Rocko’s debut album Self Made is now slated to drop in the first quarter of 2008. Inspired by his tireless drive and self sufficient know how, Rocko’s LP is filled with tracks that inspire listeners to follow in his footsteps. Songs like the motivational “This Morning” and “Tomorrow” are all about manifesting your own destiny, while another standout cut, “Shoot Me Down” focuses on overcoming whatever obstacles arise along the way. With the majority of the production handled by Drumma Boi (Young Jeezy, Juvenile, Yung Joc, etc.), Self Made is sure to knock heads nationwide.

Jennifer Lopez has filed a $10 million lawsuit against ex-husband Ojani Noa, whom she claims is violating a confidentiality agreement in place since 2004 by shopping around a sexy honeymoon video the two made in 1997.

The video, called "How I Married Jennifer Lopez, The J.Lo and Ojani Noa Story" reputedly includes Lopez, now 40, wearing skimpy clothing and supposedly being spanked by Noa. It reportedly also contains a fight between her and her mother.

Lopez wants all the footage of her handed over so her lawyers can see whether Noa violated their confidentiality agreement.

In 2007, she won a lawsuit that forbade him from publishing a tell-all book about their 11-month marriage. That book allegedly claimed Lopez frequently cheated on Noa, including with her current husband, Marc Anthony.

A Los Angeles judge has ordered Noa not to release the video while the case is being decided. A temporary restraining order stopping Noa from releasing the Lopez tape has been extended until the next hearing on December 1, according to a court spokesperson. On that date there will be an "order to show cause" hearing.

"I'm going to fight this," Noa, 35, told the New York Post before the decision.

UPDATE:According to Courthouse News Service, Noa is a Cuban-born model. He and J-Lo were married from February 1997 to January 1998. Noa is trying to make the most of those 11 months of marriage. He has already tried to write a book about it. In a previous round of Noa-Lopez litigation, she paid him a settlement and he signed an agreement not to “disclose for monetary fain any private or intimate details about either Lopez or his relationship with Lopez.” Because of that agreement, Lopez was able to stop him from writing the book.

His complaint states: "In contrast, the same day, Lopez Meyer, the lawyer for the video Lee clothing and sexual situations with the lack of inspiration, especially representing a specified e-mail sent from the hotel room sequences[she and Noa honeymoon and that the ban" 100% effective .

Born into a Mexican American family, Gonzales as a youth had no access to tennis clubs and was largely a self-taught player. In 1943 he achieved top ranking in boys’ tennis in southern California. Before turning professional in 1949, he won six major amateur championships: United States Lawn Tennis Association singles (1948–49), U.S. clay-court singles (1948–49), U.S. indoor singles (1949), and U.S. indoor mixed doubles (1949, with Gussie Moran). His speed, agility, and aggressive play, which was complemented by colourful and outspoken behaviour, won him a large following. In addition to his eight singles titles, Gonzales as a professional won the U.S. men’s doubles championship five times (1953–54, 1957–58, and 1969, with various partners). In 1969, at age 41, he defeated Charlie Pasarell in a 112-game match that was the longest in the history of the Wimbledon tournament.

In late 1955 and early 1956 Gonzales beat the athletic Tony Trabert by 74 matches to 27, a series made more compelling by the fact that the two players disliked each other intensely. At the end of 1956 Kramer signed Ken Rosewall to play another long series against Gonzales. In early 1957 Gonzales flew to Australia for the first 10 matches against Rosewall in his native country. Gonzales had developed a "half-dollar"-size cyst on the palm on his right hand and there was speculation in the newspapers that his tennis career might be over. Kramer has written that he was so worried that Rosewall would offer no competition to Gonzales and would thereby destroy the financial success of the tour that, for the only time in his career as a player or promoter, he asked Gonzales while in Australia to "carry" Rosewall in return for having his share of the gross receipts raised from 20 percent to 25 percent. The singer-songwriters, who charmed millions of moviegoers with their surprise indie hit film "Once" in 2007, are back with a new album called "Strict Joy" (Anti-) which delivers a slew of songs about past love. The album, which takes its name from a poem by James Stephens, was released this week in the United States.
Hansard, speaking with his soothing Irish accent from a hotel room in Los Angeles, California, to CNN this week, shared details of the album, his music-writing process, and his connection with Irglova.
He said some of the songs on this album are about himself and Irglova, who ended their romantic relationship last year but continued recording music together.
"That can be a little bit challenging sometimes when we're playing them, but we're so close as mates I think it's OK to report on your emotional sort of self without it being personal," he said. "The songs are just designed to be about where you're at personally."
Hansard, 39, and Irglova, 21, met in 2001 when Hansard's band the Frames from Ireland was touring Irglova's native Czech Republic. Her father, a concert promoter, invited the band to a party, where 13-year-old Irglova played a Mendelssohn piece on the piano, Hansard said. Impressed, he invited her to play with him at several other gigs.
He later suggested Irglova for the part of a Czech piano player in the movie "Once," directed by John Carney, the original bass player of the Frames, which has essentially merged with Irglova to become The Swell Season. The film showcased the musical collaboration between Irglova and Hansard, playing the roles of unnamed singer-songwriters who fall in love, but do not end up together.he music-driven story was so touching that reports of their real-life romance while promoting the film were especially heartwarming for fans. The couple didn't hide it on stage either. At a New York performance in November 2007, the duo frequently exchanged starry-eyed looks during the concert, and walked offstage with their arms around each other's shoulders after the encore.
There were some awkward moments -- "thankfully they were private" -- between the two after they went back to being friends, but Hansard insists they're fine as pals. "The romantic thing was great, it was a lovely adventure, but you know, if you're mature enough to sort of look someone in the eye and go, 'You know what, this isn't working' -- which she is and I know I'm getting there -- it actually frees you and allows you to go be mates," he said.
"It works out really much better because we've got a deeper understanding of who each other are," he said.

In recent months, Hansard and Irglova have tended to independently generate song ideas at their respective homes and then present them to each other, Hansard said. Before, they would have had more of an influence on each other's work, having "caught each other's ideas from the very birth of the idea."
But it's still good, he said. "Nowadays, it's more opinion and correction rather than getting excited about the original idea and just sort of running with it until it's finished," he said.
The Swell Season tends to be more folk than the Frames, Hansard said. The band takes its name from a Czech novel by Josef Skvorecky that he and Irglova enjoyed.
Hansard's personal favorite song from the new album, "In These Arms," which highlights the ethereal blend of their voices, came together in a day. It started with the central chorus line that Hansard had in his head that was "almost like a Johnny Cash refrain," he said.
"Then I played it for Mar and she was like, 'Oh that's beautiful, let's follow that,' and we sat at the piano and we just knocked out some chords, and I wrote the lyrics on that day, and we recorded it that evening," he said.
Another song, "The Verb," was resurrected from a Frames song from eight years ago that Hansard had abandoned because he thought it was too sad. When one of the other musicians suggested working on it while recording the new album, Hansard dismissed it again until Irglova sang the part at the end of the song.
"She added this whole dimension that I thought was very hopeful," he said.
Although Hansard's default mood for songs is "semi-sorrowful," things are actually going really well, and he's trying to get himself to write more about that.
"There's a reason I put 'Low Rising' first [on the album] because it's the one song I felt I got closest to that mood in -- which is like, 'It's all good.' "
The duo won the 2008 Academy Award for best original song from a motion picture for the movie's song "Falling Slowly," depicted in the film as an impromptu duet between Irglova and Hansard in a music store.
Hansard had no idea that particular song would become their most famous, but he remembers feeling proud of it when he wrote it. "And for that then to have gone on to be the song that basically brought us to the world has just been brilliant," he said.
Hansard said he hopes he and Irglova continue playing music together, although to a large extent it will be up to her, he said.
"There's nobody on this planet that I enjoy making music with more," he said. "The one thing that's never going to fade, if you like, is this connection musically," he said.

Long praised for the way in which he intensifies the essence of a dish — he often pays more attention to accentuating two or three flavors than creating unusual combinations — Joël Robuchon has for a quarter century been on the shortlist of renowned chefs.

Mr. Robuchon, who now has restaurants in Paris, New York, Las Vegas, London, Hong Kong, Tokyo, Macao and Monaco, hails from Poitiers in France, south of the Loire Valley. At age 28, in 1974, he was named chef of the Hôtel Concorde La Fayette in Paris, which served 3,000 meals a day. In 1981, he started his own small Paris restaurant, Jamin, which three years later was awarded three Michelin stars, the highest rating. Among his standout dishes in those years were his take on mashed potatoes (his famous purée de pommes de terre) and his tossed green salad (salade aux herbes fraîches).

Wanting a larger kitchen, he opened a grander restaurant, Joël Robuchon, in the Hôtel du Parc, where he also received three stars. He soon though began to feel stifled, and, at age 51 in 1996, he closed the restaurant, saying he was retiring at the top of his game.

But six years later, after testing the waters by starting a small restaurant in Tokyo, he opened L’Atelier de Joel Robuchon in Paris. The new Paris restaurant was a radical departure for both Mr. Robuchon and haute cuisine, challenging almost every tradition in fine dining. L’Atelier’s seats were placed around a counter that overlooked the kitchen, eliminating the traditional wall between diner and chef, making the restaurant one flowing space and creating an essentially informal, contemporary environment.

These days, in addition to the Paris Atelier, which has one Michelin star, he also has a more formal Paris restaurant, La Table du Robuchon, which has two. Mr. Robuchon’s New York version of L’Atelier, at the Four Seasons on East 57th Street, opened in 2006. It has 20 seats around its counter, and 26 at tables. Frank Bruni of The New York Times gave the New York version of Atelier three stars out of a possible four; it has one Michelin star.

Mr. Bruni wrote that Mr. Robuchon created “a layered cake of smoked foie gras and caramelized eel that's the stuff of dreams; a mélange of sea urchin roe, lobster and cauliflower cream that's pure rapture; a pair of precocious sliders - made with Kobe beef, foie gras, caramelized peppers and the most perfect little brioche buns imaginable - that get my vote for haute burger of the new millennium.”

Accomplished Film Director/Writer/Producer Mira Nair was born in India and educated at Delhi University and at Harvard. She began her film career as an actor and then turned to directing award-winning documentaries, including So Far From India and India Cabaret. Her debut feature film, Salaam Bombay! was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film in 1988; it won the Camera D'Or (for best first feature) and the Prix du Publique (for most popular entry) at the Cannes Film Festival and 25 other international awards. Her next film, Mississippi Masala, an interracial love story set in the American South and Uganda, starring Denzel Washington and Sarita Choudhury, won three awards at the Venice Film Festival including Best Screenplay and The Audience Choice Award. Subsequent films include The Perez Family (with Marisa Tomei, Anjelica Huston, Alfred Molina and Chazz Palminteri), about an exiled Cuban family in Miami; and the sensuous Kama Sutra: A Tale of Love, which she directed and co-wrote.

Nair directed My Own Country based on Dr. Abraham Verghese's best-selling memoir about a young immigrant doctor dealing with the AIDS epidemic. Made in 1998, My Own Country starred Naveen Andrews, Glenne Headly, Marisa Tomei, Swoosie Kurtz, and Hal Holbrook, and was awarded the NAACP award for best fiction feature.

Nair returned to the documentary form in August 1999 with The Laughing Club of India, which was awarded The Special Jury Prize in the Festival International de Programmes Audiovisuels 2000.

In the summer of 2000, Nair shot Monsoon Wedding in 30 days, a story of a Punjabi wedding starring Naseeruddin Shah and an ensemble of Indian actors. Winner of the Golden Lion at the 2001 Venice Film Festival, Monsoon Wedding also won a Golden Globe nomination for Best Foreign Language Film and opened worldwide to tremendous critical and commercial acclaim.

Nair’s next feature was an HBO original film, Hysterical Blindness. Set in working class New Jersey in 1987, the film stars Uma Thurman, Juliette Lewis, Gena Rowlands. Thurman and Lewis play single women looking for love in all the wrong places, while Rowlands, who plays Thurman’s mother, adds to her daughter’s hysteria when she finds Mr. Right in Ben Gazarra. The film received great critical acclaim and the highest ratings for HBO, garnering an audience of 15 million, a Golden Globe for Uma Thurman, and 3 Emmy Awards.

Following the tragic events of September 11, 2001, Nair joined a group of 11 renowned filmmakers, each commissioned to direct a film that was 11 minutes, 9 seconds and one frame long. Nair’s film is a retelling of real events in the life of the Hamdani family in Queens, whose eldest son was missing after September 11, and was then accused by the media of being a terrorist. 11.09.01 is the true story of a mother's search for her son who did not return home on that fateful day.

Nair yielded the director’s seat in 2003 to produce a documentary directed by Dinaz Stafford that explores the ancient rice farming technique practiced by the Garos of Meghalaya.

In May 2003, Nair helmed the Focus Features production of the William Thackeray classic, Vanity Fair, a provocative period tale set in post-colonial England, filmed entirely on location in the UK and India. Reese Witherspoon stars as Becky Sharp, a woman who defies her poverty-stricken background to clamber up the social ladder; Jim Broadbent, Bob Hoskins, Eileen Atkins, Gabriel Byrne, and Rhys Ifans round up the stellar ensemble cast. Vanity Fair was released in September 2004.

Nair’s upcoming projects include Jhumpa Lahiri's The Namesake, Tony Kushner’s Homebody/Kabul for HBO, and Hari Kunzru’s The Impressionist; there are also plans to take Monsoon Wedding to Broadway. Mirabai Films is establishing an annual filmmaker’s laboratory, Maisha, which will be dedicated to the support of visionary screenwriters and directors in East Africa and South Asia. Barron Hilton (Paris Hilton's Brother) Sued

A station employee who says he was hit by HIlton's Mercedes during the hotel heir's 2008 DUI ride has sued Hilton over injuries he claims to have suffered in the run-in.

Paris' little brother was busted on the morning of Feb. 12, 2008, outside a Malibu gas station after he sideswiped a pickup truck on Pacific Coast Highway and the peeved other driver followed him to the station and called police. The Good Samaritan then made Hilton sit on a bus-stop bench until authorities arrived.

But before Hilton got out of the car, he allegedly plowed into Tellez, according to the complaint filed in Los Angeles Superior Court.

Eye witnesses said at the time that Hilton's car hit an employee in the leg.

Hilton ultimately pleaded no contest last April to misdemeanor driving under the influence with a blood-alcohol level above the 0.08 percent legal limit and unlawful possession of a false license.

He was sentenced to three years' probation, fined $2,000, ordered to spend time at the L.A. County Morgue and he had his license suspended for one year.

On the list below you will find an amazing assortment of talent (by talent I means huge, or bautiful or just soooo sexy boobs) that is as varied as any list you will ever see. A warning right off the bat, below are some incredibly sexy pictures of Hollywood celebrity and other non Hollywood celebrity that show beautiful women in very sexy poses with beautiful body parts. Los Angeles (E! Online) - Another day, another step on the ladder for Britney Spears' return to the top.

The pop princess will appear on the cover of Glamour magazine's January issue, several sources exclusively tell me.

Back in early September, there were reports that Spears was shot by photographer Patrick Demarchelier for Vogue magazine. But as I told you, speculation eventually focused in on Glamour after a rep for Anna Wintour's fashion bible shot down the Vogue rumors.

A January issue of a major women's magazine like Glamour makes perfect sense. It will hit newsstands just about the same time Spears' new album, Circus, is released Dec. 2. Spears has also just signed a deal with live entertainment company AEG to produce her upcoming world tour.

She has appeared once before on the cover of Glamour, back in 2003 for its annual Women of the Year issue.

A music label rep for Spears did not comment. A rep for Glamour would not confirm or deny a Spears cover, because the magazine has a policy of not commenting on upcoming issues.

Doctor orders Janet Jackson to postpone tour

LOS ANGELES - The doctor has again ordered Janet Jackson to postpone a return to her "Rock Witchu" tour. Jackson was scheduled to resume her tour Monday night at the Turning Stone Resort in New York after canceling a show over the weekend in Connecticut. A message posted on the resort and casino's Web site stated the show had been canceled at the advice of Jackson's doctor.

She has since postponed several shows, including Thursday night's show at Madison Square Garden in New York. Promoters say the dates will be rescheduled.

No one is saying what is ailing Jackson, who was rushed to a hospital in Montreal before a concert in late September.

Jackson is on her first North American tour in seven years.

LOS ANGELES - Lisa Marie Presley is a mom again. A publicist says the 40-year-old singer gave birth Tuesday to twin girls, whose names were not released. One baby weighed 5 pounds, 15 ounces and the other came in at 5 pounds and 2 ounces.

A statement released Saturday says Presley gave birth by Caesarean section. She lives in the Los Angeles area and the publicist says the births took place somewhere on the West Coast but won't provide details.

The statement says "babies and mom are happy and healthy and resting at home."

Presley is the daughter of Elvis Presley and is married to music producer Michael Lockwood. She has a 19-year-old daughter and a 15-year-old son by a previous marriage.

'Hellboy II' catches fire with $35.9 million debut

LOS ANGELES (AP) — Superheroes battling inner demons often rule the box office. This time, the superhero was a demon as "Hellboy II: The Golden Army" pulled in $35.9 million to debut as the No. 1 weekend film.

Universal's "Hellboy" sequel, starring Ron Perlman as the red-skinned devil fighting for the good guys, took over the top spot from Will Smith's superhero tale "Hancock," which slipped to second place with $33 million, according to studio estimates Sunday.

Sony's "Hancock" raised its domestic total to $165 million.

Opening at No. 3 with $20.6 million was New Line's "Journey to the Center of the Earth," starring Brendan Fraser in an underground adventure shot in digital 3-D.

Eddie Murphy bombed with his comedy "Meet Dave," a 20th Century Fox release that took in just $5.3 million. The movie features Murphy in dual roles as a tiny alien and his spaceship — which is designed to resemble a full-sized human for a visit to Earth.

"It was a tough concept to get across," 20th Century Fox distribution executive Bert Livingston said of "Meet Dave," which cost about $55 million to make. "It's upsetting for all of us and for Eddie. He's very funny in this. Just not enough people came."

Science-fiction comedy has not been a kind genre for Murphy. His biggest bomb ever was the sci-fi tale "The Adventures of Pluto Nash," which cost about $90 million and took in just $4.4 million during its entire run.

"Hellboy II" was a rare case of one studio taking on another's hand-me-downs. Sony released the first "Hellboy" in 2004 but passed on the sequel, which allowed Universal to step in.

The original movie was a modest box-office performer, hauling in $23.2 million over opening weekend and $59 million in its entire run. However, it really caught fire on DVD, convincing Universal executives that a sequel was in order.

"When a film is a franchise that another studio didn't want to continue to pursue, it makes things even better," said Nikki Rocco, head of distribution at Universal. "We believed in the filmmakers, the talent packaged together. We saw the potential."

Guillermo del Toro ("Pan's Labyrinth") returned to direct the sequel, which pits Perlman's Hellboy against an elf who aims to unleash a monstrous mechanical army on humanity.

"`Pan's Labyrinth' made a big impression on a lot of people," said Paul Dergarabedian, president of box-office tracker Media By Numbers. "If they weren't fans of Guillermo del Toro before, they certainly are now."

"Journey to the Center of the Earth" stars Fraser in a modern twist on Jules Verne's classic tale about a trip to the planet's core.

Though 3-D screens accounted for fewer than a third of 2,811 theaters where the movie played, those cinemas pulled in $11.7 million, well over half of the picture's revenues, according to Warner Bros., which handled its distribution.

Warner had to book the movie largely in traditional 2-D theaters because not enough cinemas have been converted to projectors capable of showing digital 3-D movies.

"We would have liked to have more of these," said Dan Fellman, head of distribution for Warner.

Overall Hollywood revenues fell compared to the same weekend a year ago, when "Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix" opened with $77.4 million. The top 12 movies took in $145 million, down 16 percent from the same weekend in 2007.

However, Batman arrives Friday to heat up the box office again. The Batman sequel "The Dark Knight" is one of the year's most-anticipated films even without the death of co-star Heath Ledger. His death and the buzz over his maniacal performance as Batman nemesis the Joker has fans in a frenzy to see the movie.

Estimated ticket sales for Friday through Sunday at U.S. and Canadian theaters, according to Media By Numbers LLC. Final figures will be released Monday.

Angelina Jolie gives birth to twins

PARIS (AP) — The Brangelina twins are here: Angelina Jolie has given birth to a girl and a boy.

The obstetrician who delivered the twins, Dr. Michel Sussmann, told The Associated Press that the actress, the babies and Jolie's partner, actor Brad Pitt, "are doing marvelously well."

Sussmann said Jolie gave birth to a boy, Knox Leon, and a girl, Vivienne Marcheline, by Cesarian section on Saturday night.

He told the AP on Sunday morning that the boy weighed 5.03 pounds and the girl 5 pounds. The 33-year-old actress gave birth at around 8 p.m on Saturday night, the doctor told The AP by telephone.

Pitt was there during the operation, said the doctor, who delivered the twins at the seaside Lenval hospital in Nice in southern France.

"Everything is going well," said Sussmann. "The mother, the babies, the father are doing marvelously well."

He said the Cesarian was moved forward from its originally planned date "for medical reasons" so that the babies could be born "in the best conditions." Sussman did not give details.

He said Jolie is expected to stay in the hospital for a few more days. The doctor said he believed the baby girl's middle name was chosen in honor of Jolie's mother, actress Marcheline Bertrand, who died in Jan. 2007 after a 7 1/2-year battle with cancer.

Jolie and Pitt already have four children: Maddox, 6; Pax, 4; Zahara, 3, and Shiloh, 2.

Jolie had checked into the hospital late last month to rest and be monitored by her doctor before the birth.

Before that, she, Pitt and their children had moved into a large estate, Miraval, in the French hamlet of Correns, which is just a short helicopter ride from the hospital. Correns is about 60 miles from Nice, a resort on the Mediterranean.

Though the lenses of the world's paparazzi had been trained on maternity wards across the French Riviera, Jolie managed to slip unobserved into the clinic, which has magnificent views of the Mediterranean, reportedly arriving by helicopter on the hospital's rooftop helipad.

Pitt was seen coming and going after Jolie's hospitalization became public.

The first photos of the new twins are expected to fetch millions of dollars.

Paparazzi gathered outside the hospital in Nice on Sunday morning, hoping for a shot of Pitt.

Local newspaper Nice Matin, which first broke news of the birth, reported Sunday that the couple have sold rights for the first photo of their newly enlarged family to a U.S. publication, which it did not name, and that the proceeds would go to charity.

The newspaper gave no source for that information. But the doctor told The AP the couple decided to announce the birth to Nice Matin first because of its links to Nice. The newspaper called the twins "the most famous babies in the world."

Earlier this week, the hospital said it had coated the windows of Jolie's room with a special material to prevent paparazzi from taking unauthorized pictures of the star couple.

The hospital said photos in magazines and on the Internet which purported to show Jolie and Pitt in their room were fake, either manipulated or showing other patients at the hospital.

Tourists and residents of Nice, a popular resort, welcomed news of the birth. The city's mayor, Christian Estrosi, had previously told The AP that the twins will always be considered honorary citizens of the city, regardless of whether they opt to obtain French citizenship. Estrosi said it was a "very great honor" for Nice that the Hollywood couple chose to give birth there.

Alves, 24, gave birth Monday night in California, according to the report.

Calls and e-mails to McConaughey's publicists weren't immediately returned early Tuesday.

The 38-year-old actor announced that Alves was pregnant in a posting on his Web site in January.

"Camila and I were side by side the entire time," McConaughey told the magazine. "We are both tired and elated, and are so happy to have created the greatest miracle in the world — having a child and making a family."

Angelina Jolie has checked into a Nice, France hospital where she will remain until she gives birth to twins.

The actress has been living with partner Brad Pitt, their children and assistants in an exclusive wine resort in Provence, France since the beginning of the summer.

Jolie admitted herself into the Lenval Hospital in Nice on Monday (30Jun08), and is said to be doing fine, according to a hospital representative.

Nadine Bauer, the spokeswoman for the hospital, says the actress had planned her move into the maternity ward for some time and that everything is going well.

Bauer says, "The visit has been planned for a long time, there are no complications. She is just resting".

Jolie's twins are expected to be delivered by Michele Sussmann, who is reportedly set to fly to France from the U.S. later this week (beg30Jun08).

The actress has three adopted children and a natural child with Pitt.

News she was pregnant with twins was confirmed at the Cannes Film Festival in May (08) when Jolie's Kung Fu Panda co-star Jack Black revealed all during a TV interview.
